This is a 19th-century hand-painted portrait miniature dating from approximately 18301850. It is painted in watercolor on a traditional thin tablet used for fine miniature portraiture of the period. The sitter is an elegantly dressed young woman in an off-the-shoulder gown, shown with detailed facial features and soft toning typical of early Victorian techniques.

The miniature is housed in a later metal oval frame with molded inner ring and folding easel stand. The inner ring has two cracks. The frame is not original to the artwork. Inside the back is an older piece of paper with German handwriting that reads Unbekannt, meaning unknown, along with a catalog number.

The painted tablet remains intact but shows areas of paint loss and surface wear, especially in the lower dress area. This is consistent with age and earlier storage. The piece displays well, with a warm, luminous ground and the distinctive layered painting technique associated with miniature portraiture of this era.
